Pyla sur mer - Mimizan
Gary says to know what happened on our eighth day of riding just listen to Perfect Day by Lou Reed...
During the day we cycled past the largest sand dune in the world at Dune De Pyla.
Dramas of the day were, in reverse order: Hazel catching her knee on the handlebars of her bike as she was stretching whilst cycling along; Tom falling off his bike after reaching the hotel; and, in first place, Brian and Chris when they hit Billīs back wheel at high speed and ended up on the other side of the road, with Chris hanging on for dear life with one foot rubbing on the road.
After settling at the hotel we all set off for the beach for a barbeque. This lasted well into the evening with lots of food and drink consumed and music supplied by Tom and Mikeīs choir-like voices. Thanks to the superb PR work of Paul, our man of the day, we managed to convince the local woman, whose shack we had lit the barbeque next to, that we werenīt going to burn it down. She even came back with her two kids and some wine and chocolate!
