| 23 September (day 6) Wet but refreshing | Back to Latest News | ||
La Rochelle - Venday Montalivet Our "International Man of Mystery" Paul was convinced that breakfast on day six was not included so we all tried to force feed him but to no avail and soon he was off doing his own thang again. It was a bit drizzly to start and soon turned into torrential drizzle, but at least it kept us nice and cool. The drama of the day was Gary's bike getting wet for the first time in 5yrs..... he was inconsolable. The pre lunch race at the end of the first 44 miles was won by Tom, according to him, Bill, according to him and Gary according to him! After lunch it was a 12 mile ride to the ferry which was to take us across Le Gironde Estuary into Medoc country. The drama on this section was when Mike and Warren were savagely barked at by a local dog! Once we had reached the ferry port we had an hours wait for the next boat. Andy had missed the ferry by seconds so he decided to drive 104 miles around. While we were on the ferry Tom made us roar by getting himself soaked by the local tsunami(massive vave). Once we had gotten off the ferry with the wind behind us we set off at a far old lick and soon covered the 20 miles to the stop over for the 7th night. Quote of the day (Gary):
